An Italian Adventure Begins

ITALIAN REPORT RECEIVED TUESDAY 26TH JUNE

We are having a great time. Pompeii today was very good, hot but with a nice breeze coming through as well. No problem getting free entry for the students (with the magic letter I can produce at the ticket office). We also went to Herculaneum today. The girls had to go out before 8.30am this morning to buy food for their lunches today. Much cheaper to do this in Vico Equense rather than Pompeii. They enjoyed purchasing bread and cheese etc in the little grocery store here and using a bit of Italian. The size of the town means they go into the square and be perfectly safe and it is a typical Italian town for them to experience. Last night Italy won their football game so there was the usual excitement in the town, lots of tooting of horns and fireworks.

Currently most of the girls are in the pool. They are getting along fine and showing great interest in all things we are seeing. They loved the abbey at Monte Cassino yesterday-it was wonderful to start off with such a spectacular place. Italian boys are showing their usual interest and I have warned the girls that they are much more forward than NZ boys and that the slightest amount of encouragement will result in unwanted attention!

Ciao
