Southwell Exchange Report

 34 year 7 & 8 girls enjoyed the Southwell exchange, for many of them a first experience in billeting and playing sport against another school outside of HB.

Southwell and St Peters are both much larger schools than Iona providing us with strong competition. The girls enjoyed a beautiful  sunny day and school environment. Fraser Netball drew 17 all with Southwell 7a and won against St Peters 7a 18-16.  Our Hockey team lost to Southwell 5 nil and won against St Peters b side 1 nil.  Football lost to Southwell 5-1 and had a much better defensive game against St Peters and only lost 3 nil. It was nil all at half time.

 NETBALL: Most Valuable Player – Emmie Mulinder who displayed solid play, found space, listened to instructions and pressurized the ball.
Most Improved Player – Claire Downey who’s tips, intercepts, and rebounds were impressive. Claire’s improvement over the season came to the fore at the Southwell with 2 great games.

 

FOOTBALL: Most Valuable Player – Amy Martin.  Amy’s all round ability, her commitment to the team and positional play was exemplary. Most Improved Player – Georgia Mather played gave 100% and was tireless in defence and attack.

HOCKEY: Hockey decided to award two MVP award!

Most Valuable Player – Lucy Manahi and Jamie Mactaggart.  Lucy for her enthusiasm, commitment and strength on the ball.  Jamie for her commitment especially covering the ball in defence.
