Warm Welcome Extended to New Principal

The service of welcome for Iona’s 11th Principal Shannon Warren and her husband John was a very moving ceremony.  Mrs Warren was introduced to the school in the traditional Maori way with a Mihi Whakatau and the Waiata “Te Aroha” which encompasses our school motto: Love, Joy and Peace. These themes were echoed in the readings and hymns, in the prayers from Chapel Prefect Phoebe Ayers and Boarding Prefect Leslie Bolton, in the message from our Head Girl, Sally Ward and by Mrs Warren in her address.

Jo McGlashan on behalf of the College Council introduced Mrs Warren followed by Mrs Sue Nimon, chairperson of the Iona College Board of Trustees, presenting her with the Principal’s brooch.

The service ended in the Scottish, Presbyterian tradition with the piping out of the official party by staff member David Shennan.
