The public has voted and chosen their favourite Innovation from the 62 participants in this year’s Fieldays Innovation Awards. Congratulations to our Iona College students, Phoebe Butler and Maddie Foote who have been awarded the Innovation Hub People's Choice Award and $2,000 from Fieldays for their ‘Wool Be Studying’ entry.
This is the first year Iona has entered the Innovation Awards, marking a significant milestone for our students and staff. They were selected from a record number of entries as one of five finalists in the Young Innovator of the Year Award, with their Wool Be Studying 100% Wool Study Pod paired with 100% sustainable flat-pack furniture.
Developing projects worthy of this Innovation Hub space, demands a higher level of commitment and work outside the regular curriculum requirements. To have our very first Iona team not only submit an entry but also be selected to compete for the Fieldays Prototype Innovation Award and go on to win the People's Choice Award is outstanding.
We are so proud of the Iona College 'Wool Be Studying' young innovation team Phoebe Butler and Maddie Foote and all the supporting staff and families on the project and at Fieldays including Kirsten Le Bon, Stephanie Russell, Rose Flay and Kirsty Duff.
A very special thanks to all who voted and our project sponsors 'Big Save' and supporters The Fabric Store and Wools of NZ
