Over the September school holidays, Iona College student Hayley Xu achieved outstanding success across three major dance competitions in Palmerston North, Rotorua, and Hawke’s Bay. Her exceptional results highlight her technical skill, artistry, and commitment to excellence in dance performance.
Hayley delivered a series of exceptional performances in her ballet categories, earning multiple first placings and special awards.
1st Place – Classical, Classical Pointe, Barefoot
2nd Place – Demi Character, National Character, ChampionshipSpecial Awards:
Most Artistic Classical Performer
Most Promising Dancer (14 years and over)
Highest Aggregate (14 and under 16 years)
Runner Up – Highest Points Classical
At the Rotorua Competition, Hayley continued her success, earning a prestigious PACANZ Nomination and placing highly across several sections.
1st Place – Barefoot
2nd Place – Variation, National Character
3rd Place – Classical
Very Highly Commended – Demi Character, Impromptu
Highest Aggregate – 14 years and over
To conclude her holiday competition season, Hayley performed with continued excellence at the Neon Dance Competition, achieving top placings across multiple sections.

Across all three competitions, Hayley has demonstrated a remarkable level of dedication and professionalism. Her consistent results reflect her strong technical foundation, expressive artistry, and ability to perform under pressure. Hayley continues to be an outstanding representative of the Iona College Dance Department, and the school community is extremely proud of her achievements.
